Working with Pulp Paper

Examining the growth of patterns and natural dwellings, I wanted to explore pulp paper as a medium for jewellery.

I am inspired by the movement of geological forms and creatures that build nests and hives. Replicating the use of repetition, building layers, addition and time to create a form observed in these natural phenomena and ethology.

I was drawn to the organic qualities of paper pulp along with its natural aesthetic. Pulp is weightless yet durable, allowing me to grow organic and unexpected patterns to create one-of-a-kind pieces of light weight wearable jewellery.

Building incrementally, the progression of the patterns growth is dictated by the orientation of pulp placed before it. Each individual fragment crucial to the movement of the pattern that emerges, each pattern unique.
